Sardonic Disconnection

Ugh…

I've not written anything for two days now. Even then the few days prior to that were meanderings, snatches of prose, small re-arrangements, nothing of note. Tuesday night I felt drunk without having touched a drop. Last night I fell asleep on the settee. I'm placing blame for this squarely at the feet of my day job, which appears to have descended once again into fixing other people's shitty data. I'm trying to make better use of my time, reading instead of just louging, but I'm not sure how much I'm learning in the interim. I just need to stop for a while, find my centre, get back on track. Here's hoping.

  1. Maybe you need a break? When I feel like that it’s usually a sign I’ve pushed myself too hard and need to give myself a proper rest from writing.

Hope the day job picks up! If it’s any comfort, I’ve spent my week finding the bugs which need fixing in other people’s shitty data… and fobbing off the users complaining about bugs. ;-)

  2. I’ve been having a bad time of writing this week too… so I can empathise. It’s all part of the fun of writing, but I agree with Ali, you do need breaks and let your amazing brain recharge its batteries. And you need to give yourself a break – fallow patches are normal. Afterall, we’re not all supermen, or Jeffrey Archer.
